Students graduate from The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University prepared for success in an ever-changing, global media environment. Study abroad programs, research projects, internships, student organizations, academic conferences, and professional events are all an essential part of the student experience at Hofstra. However, the cost to participate in many of these activities is often in addition to a student’s tuition.
The Herbert School established the Student Experience Fund to ensure that deserving students can participate in the full School of Communication experience, regardless of their financial situation. Donors to the fund make it possible for students to pursue a variety of activities which foster personal and professional development.
Every gift to the Student Experience Fund has a meaningful and direct impact on the lives of Hofstra students.
Gifts at this level could help students connect with professionals in their intended fields. Attending industry conferences, internships, and other experiential activities in New York City provides students with many opportunities to transfer the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to workplace settings and build their professional networks. Organizations like HEAT, HFC, The Hofstra Chronicle, PRSSA, WRHU, and others enable students to sharpen their leadership skills, gain hands-on experience, and build a community of peers. Funding could help purchase equipment and supplies, bring guest speakers to campus, host special events, and provide financial support for other student-led initiatives. GIVE TODAY
Donations at this level could help students experiment with new methods of storytelling and express themselves creatively. Activities like senior projects are the culmination of years of study and practice. The fund could help students offset costs associated with producing their work, as well as with submitting their projects to film festivals and other contests after graduation. GIVE TODAY
